A British mother-of-three has been left with life-altering injuries after a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road in Alicante crashed into her.
Dawn Maher, 50, was hospitalised after she suffered a severe crash while driving to pick her friend up from Alicante Airport earlier this month.
She collided with a car that began speeding down the wrong lane of the N332 into oncoming traffic, and was taken to Hospital Vega Baja.
The rescue worker, originally from Stockport suffered ‘a lot of breaks and fractures including her neck which will be in a brace for months, left arm, and ribs’, according to a GoFundMe set up by her husband Stephen, 59.
On top of this, both of Dawn’s legs were fractured in multiples places following the crash, which Stephen said Spanish police ‘confirmed Dawn was an innocent victim’ of.

While she was in a critical condition for several days, she is now awake and can breath without the help of a ventilator.
‘Thank God all her internal organs are okay and her brain is completely fine’, Stephen wrote.
Stephen wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday that she’s now been able to wiggle her toes, despite undergoing major surgery.
Despite this, he said he was worried about how long her recovery will take.
‘We have no idea how long her recovery is going to take or what her life is going to look like with the damage to her legs but we do know it’s going to be a long road,’ Stephen wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Stephen and his family, including children Chelsea, 31, Jake, 29, and Robyn, 25, moved to Alicante back in 2017 following the loss of all three of their remaining parents in the space of a year.
Dawn was planning on hosting her 50th birthday in the southeastern Spanish city, which she has called home for several years, and was going to host her childhood friends for a celebration before her tragic crash.
The GoFundMe they set up up to help with their finances has already exceeded their goal of £10,500, with the help of 241 donors.
One generous donor sent the couple £1,000 to help them get through the shock crash.
