A MURDER probe has been launched after the body of a woman was discovered in a river.

The 34-year-old victim was found in the River Severn in Llanidloes, Wales on Sunday.

Police confirmed a 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.

They are still trying to work out the identity of the woman, who has been described as white, 5ft 4ins and of a small build.

She had very long dreadlocks, which fell past her waist, and was wearing a grey coloured top, dark trousers and white trainers.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw her with a 6ft man, who also had dreadlocks, in Llanidloes on Saturday and Sunday.

The man was a stocky build and had a small, dark-coloured dog with him.

He was wearing a short sleeve, high vis-style jacket, t-shirt, shorts and light-coloured trainers with a black bag.

Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed, or has dashcam footage of, a man and a woman in Llanidloes, or on the A470 between Llanidloes and Dolwen, on Saturday or Sunday.
