Shocking video shows adults using children to rob a Washington DC porch of its Halloween’s decorations

• The incident was caught on a Ring doorbell camera and shows the kids walking up to the property in Hillcrest around 8.30pm on October 12
• They were seemingly being directed by one adult as two baskets filled with Halloween-themed items were stolen
• A second adult was seen standing on the sidewalk outside the house and keeping guard while the theft happened

A homeowner in Washington, DC, was horrified to see her Halloween decorations stolen from her front porch by young children under the supervision of two adults. 

The incident was caught on a Ring doorbell camera and shows the kids walking up to the property in the Hillcrest neighborhood around 8.30pm on October 12.

They were seemingly being directed by one adult as two baskets filled with Halloween-themed items were stolen. 

A second adult was seen standing on the sidewalk outside the house and keeping guard while the theft took place. 

The homeowner, who was named only as Shelly, was left ‘disgusted’ by the incident and said she was concerned about the behavior of the young children.

The incident was caught on a Ring doorbell camera and shows the kids walking up to the property in the Hillcrest neighborhood around 8.30pm on October 12

Footage shows three kids climbing on to the porch of the property and looking through the window to see if anyone was home. 

An adult then appears in front of the children while they scour the area. 

Another grown-up was also spotted standing guard on the sidewalk during the incident. 

The kids were seen inspecting Halloween decorations on the porch before two of them picked up baskets. 

They immediately ran from the scene with the two adults who homeowner Shelly believes are their parents. 

‘I was just really disgusted that the parents were there,’ she told WUSA9. ‘It was almost like they were being directed which was concerning to me.

The kids were seen inspecting Halloween decorations on the porch before two of them picked up baskets. They immediately ran away from the scene with the two adults 

‘You know these little babies, which quite frankly I felt sorry for, especially the little one because when they got up and ran, they sort of left him behind coming up the rear.

‘I mean what kind of parent! I feel like if they would do something like this and involve their children, they would do just about anything.’ 

Shelly said she hopes the adults caught on camera get the help they need.

‘As angry as I was, I want the best for them,’ she added.

‘I want them to learn and to learn that this is wrong and not do it again and grow to become wonderful well-adjusted adults.’

It comes as youth crime in the city climbs with 363 young people arrested in the first six months of this year.

Officials have long insisted that solving the crisis begins at home with parents keeping an eye on their children.
