Outspoken Aussie vegan activist Tash Peterson has been blasted by UK commentator Piers Morgan for comparing the slaughter of farm animals to the Holocaust.

Ms Peterson, 29, from Western Australia, appeared on Morgan’s TV program Uncensored on Friday wearing a T-shirt with the words ‘End this holocaust’ and an image of a pig in a cage.

Morgan suggested people were losing interest in veganism was because they were ‘fed up with being shouted out’.

‘You’re one of those people that runs into restaurants and plays sounds from screaming animals in abattoirs and so on,’ Morgan said.

Tash Peterson said that ‘multiple holocausts have occurred throughout human history’

The controversial activist hit back, declaring that she didn’t agree with his analysis.

‘No, I don’t think so at all,’ she said.

‘I think it brings more attention to the animal holocaust,’ Peterson offered, to which Mr Morgan then asked: ‘Why would you use the word holocaust?’

‘Holocaust is the mass extermination of more than six million Jewish people by Adolf Hitler and the Nazis,’ he said.

‘Why would you use that very emotive language knowing it would offend people?’

Ms Peterson replied that it was ‘just a factual statement’.

‘If you look at the definition of a holocaust it is slaughter or destruction on a mass scale,’ she said.

‘Multiple holocausts have occurred throughout human history and non-human animals can be subjected to the same atrocities that humans can.’

Ms Peterson is notorious for her confrontational protest tactics

Ms Peterson has been banned from entering WA pubs and restaurants

Mr Morgan also criticised Ms Peterson’s protest methods, saying there were better ways to convince people to switch to a veganism ‘than running into restaurants and playing noises of screaming animals’.

Ms Peterson is currently in the UK for the Vegan Camp Out Festival where she will appear as a guest speaker.

She was required to seek clearance from a Perth court for the trip after she was charged with failing to leave a licensed venue, disorderly conduct and trespass.

Ms Peterson was issued with a 12-month ban from entering licensed venues in WA after becoming involved in multiple confrontations with chef John Mountain at his Perth restaurant Fyre on June 30 and July 8.

Mr Mountain banned vegans from his restaurant in June, prompting Ms Peterson to stage protests outside his venue where she disturbed diners by playing loud audio of squealing pigs while shouting about the ‘animal apocalypse’.

Ms Peterson this week posted a video to social media in which she appeared to burn the police notice banning her from WA pubs and restaurants.

Peterson will appear via videolink for her next court appearance on July 31.
