Tube map shows cheapest pint of beer near every London Underground station – from Stepney Green’s £1.49 IPA to the Knightsbridge £6.40 Moretti

  • Map shows 302 pubs near tube stations and their cheapest pints on offer in 2022 amid the cost of living crisis
  • 14 are offering pints for under £2, 23 are serving pints for less than £2.50 and 30 are only charging £3
  • It comes as today FIFA have announced the banning of alcohol for football fans in Qatar for the World Cup

While football fans might be devastated by the banning of alcohol at the Qatar World Cup, those at home can enjoy cheap pints in the capital despite the increasingly desperate cost of living crisis.

Whether your tipple is lager or craft beer, the map, created by Tech company Storekit, helps you get the most out of your money when drinking in London.

Of the 302 pubs included, 14 are offering pints for under £2, 23 are serving pints for less than £2.50 and 30 are only charging £3.

Research found that compared with prices shown on a similar map in 2019, the average price of the cheapest pint has increased by 14.32%, from £3.91 to £4.47.

But the price of the least expensive beer in London has dropped from £1.89 to £1.49.

Pints of Ruddles and Greene King IPA for just £1.49 are poured at four Wetherspoons pubs: The Eva Hart (Chadwell Heath), Moon on the Hill (Harrow-on-the-Hill), Half Moon (Stepney Green) and The Red Lion and Pineapple (Acton).

The most expensive pubs in London for ‘cheap’ pints are The George in Heathrow Airport, with all draught beer costing a steep £6.50 and the Paxton Head in Knightsbridge, where a Moretti costs £6.40.

Coming in at the most expensive of the cheapest London pints was Beavertown Brewery’s Neck Oil, at an average of £6.50, an increase of 95p from 2019’s £5.55.

The most frequently cheap pint is still Foster’s at around £4.40, as was the case in 2019 and Peroni remains victorious as the most popular pint of choice.

The map also points out the closest pubs to tube stations with the Famous Cock in Islington being only a 10 feet stumble away from Highbury and Islington station.

After a perfect storm of Brexit, rising energy bills and the wider cost of living crisis, many pubs have struggled over recent months as customers are going out and spending less.

Of the 262 pubs recorded on the 2019 map, 1 in 20 have closed down (17).

Beer lovers can find cheap pints across London, with further out locations such as The Miller’s Well in Barking and The Toll Gate Greene in Haringey selling them for £1.59 while central London offers much more expensive pints, with Oxford Circus and Southwark pubs offering them for around £6

Wetherspoon’s pubs The Eva Hart (left) and The Moon on the Hill (right) in Chadwell Heath and Harrow-on-the-Hill offer pints of Ruddles, a classic ale, for just £1.49

Pints are more than an eye-watering £6 in Heathrow’s The George in Terminal 5 (left) and The Argyll Arms in Oxford Circus (right)

The pint map comes after FIFA announced today that during the World Cup tournament, alcohol is banned anywhere outside of the dedicated ‘fan zones’, much to the outrage of those who have travelled to Qatar.

Pints will cost £12, only be available at certain times, and each person will be limited to four maximum to stop them getting drunk.

If anyone who does get drunk could be taken away to sober up.
