A MUM tragically mowed down in a hospital car park had just become a grandmother for the first time.

Mary Owen-Jones, 52, has today been named as the woman who died on Tuesday, two days after she was hit.

The mum-of-two's family have now paid tribute to her, sharing their heartbreak that she will never get to see her first granddaughter, April Rose, grow up.

Mary, of Rhos on Sea, North Wales, was walking between two car parks near the main entrance at the Glan Clwyd hospital in Bodelwyddan when the horror unfolded.

In a moving tribute, her devastated family said: “Mary is survived by her son and daughter, Andrew and Jasmine, her granddaughter, April Rose and her husband, Arwel.

“She had a passion for life and her family and was particularly looking forward to being a grandma to her newly born granddaughter, April Rose.
