Taxpayers foot £150m bill for woke staff training including African drumming sessions, think-tank says

Public sector employees spend a million staff days a year on equality-training programmes, a report claims today.

Taxpayers footed the bill for staff to attend ‘African drumming sessions’ and play a ‘respect at work board game’ as part of inclusion training, Conservative Way Forward, a Thatcherite think-tank, found.

The estimated cost to the taxpayer of all the programmes identified was £150million.

Government bodies also employed more than 7,500 members of staff to deal with issues of ‘equality, diversity, and inclusivity’, costing the taxpayer a further £340million a year – enough to pay the annual salaries of 10,000 nurses.

The authors of the report, based on Freedom of Information requests to public bodies, said this was part of £7billion of taxpayers’ money being directed towards ‘politically motivated’ schemes, charities and arts groups.

Tory MP Scott Benton said: ‘This is an astonishing amount of money being wasted on politically correct drivel. When are we going to end this rampant wokery and free up the money to spend on things which the public actually want?’
