Seaside town and beach urgently cordoned off after 'unexploded device' found by Clacton Pier | The Sun

PARTS of a seaside town has been urgently cordoned off after a suspected unexploded ordnance was found by the pier.

The unknown "device" was discovered in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex this morning, cops confirmed.

A 300ft wide cordon has been put in place while the find is investigated.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We are currently dealing with a suspected piece of unexploded ordnance discovered on the beach near Clacton Pier.

"Officers were called to the discovery shortly after 10.30am this morning.

"We would like to thank members of the public for observing the cordon for their own safety."
