A PLANE has crash-landed in the middle of a busy intersection in California on Saturday and clipped a car on its way down, leaving bystanders stunned.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department will be shutting down the roads, fire officials said.

The passengers of the plane and vehicle that was hit are being treated for minor injuries, FOX 5 reported.

The reason for the emergency landing is currently unknown.

This comes less than a year after another pair was terrified when they were struck by a plane making an emergency landing not far from Saturday's crash.

In August 2021, an unsuspecting couple was shocked when they saw a plane headed straight for them on Interstate 5 in Del Mar.

"We were just driving down the freeway, just talking, when all of a sudden we just felt something huge hit us and glass shattered everywhere," Sarah Tribett told FOX 5.

Sarah and her husband Dane were on their way to the beach to celebrate their anniversary when a single-engine Piper PA-32 descended upon them.

"All of sudden, we just see the plane in front of us," Tribett said.

"We were scared out of our minds."

The plane landed right on top of the couple, smashing glass and soaking the car with fuel.

Miraculously, the pilot and passenger on the aircraft were unhurt and occupants in nearby vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Tribett told FOX 5 that the incident was so surreal it felt like it didn't actually happen.

"It's definitely a story to tell our families," she said.
