Nottingham major incident news — Three killed & 3 in hospital after bodies 'found dead in the street' in city centre | The Sun

THREE people have been killed and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a "major incident" in Nottingham this morning.

Officers and other emergency services were called to the Ikeston Road area of the city centre just after 4am this morning, where two people were found dead in the street.

Moments later, officers were then called to another incident on Milton Street, where a van had attempted to run over three people, all of whom are being treated for their injuries in hospital.

A man was also found dead in Magdala Road.

Nottinghamshire Police has since confirmed a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

    He said: "I want to thank the police and emergency services for their ongoing response to the shocking incident in Nottingham this morning.

    "I am being kept updated on developments. The police must be given the time to undertake their work.

    "My thoughts are with those injured, and the family and loved ones of those who have lost their lives."

    Keir Starmer sends thoughts to those affected in Nottingham incident

    Speaking at a conference for London Tech Week, the Labour leader, Keir Starmer, said: "I don't think we can start this session without acknowledging there has been a serious incident in Nottingham this morning. 

    "Information is still coming through but it's just been reported that three people have lost their lives so I'm sure I speak for everybody in this room when we say we'd like to just send our thoughts to all those affected and to the emergency services who are responding to this as we speak. 

    "So we will go to tech, obviously, in just a moment, but I just think when there's something that serious happening in Nottingham, we just need to acknowledge it, as I say, send our thoughts to those that are affected and thank those that are responding to it, on behalf of all of us."

    'Thoughts and prayers with those injured and with the family and friends of those killed'

    Robert Jenrick, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Newark, Nottinghamshire has said he "share a sense of shock" with all those in Nottingham.

    Taking to Twitter he wrote: "I’m deeply grateful to @nottspolice and all those who responded to the terrible attack earlier today in Nottingham.

    "All of us in Nottinghamshire share a sense of shock.

    "My thoughts and prayers are with those injured and with the family and friends of those killed."

    Cops detain suspect

    Victims are believed to have been stabbed in the attack.

    Police have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody following what police called a "major incident".

    Pictures of the arrest show a white Vauxhall Vivaro with two cracks in the windscreen as cops detained the suspect.

    Three people were killed before a van rammed into three others in a horror rampage that has seen one man arrested in Nottingham.

    The suspect drove a van into a bus stop before getting out of the vehicle and stabbing people, security sources believe.

    One Twitter user said someone was "being treated on the side of the road" earlier this morning.

      Chief Constable Kate Meynell said: “This is an horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people.

      “We believe these three incidents are all linked and we have a man in custody.

      “This investigation is at its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened.

      A witness claims they heard gunshots Nottingham this morning before seeing cops swarm around someone amid horror scenes.

      A major police incident was declared in recent hours, with cops closing off the city.

      An eye witness told GB news: "We woke up this morning at about 5:30am to what sounded like gunshots – we ran to the window and there was armed police coming out of an undercover car.

      "The suspect was tasered and dragged out by them and then aresse."

        In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, Nottinghamshire Police said officers and other emergency services are currently in attendance at several locations.

        The statement read: "There are multiple road closures in place throughout the city while the incident is being investigated.

        "We are asking the public and motorists to please avoid the following areas and plan alternate routes."
