Man arrested after 11-year-old girl sexually assaulted

A man is in custody after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in North Melbourne on Thursday afternoon.

Paramedics attended the incident at Boundary Road near Racecourse Road about 2pm and took the girl to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Police have arrested a 31-year-old North Melbourne man, who remains in custody.

The man was assisting police with enquiries on Thursday evening.
