A football fan was left feeling ‘awful’ after he ate ‘undercooked’ cheese and bacon loaded chips at a game.

Jake Temperton went to the FC Halifax Town home match against Scunthorpe where he sampled the on-site chip van.

But the 22-year-old glass bottle maker was shocked when he was served lightly cooked bacon and soggy chips.

The dish was so cold that the cheese sprinkled on top hadn’t melted, and the chips were pale.

‘I text my mate asking if he wanted to catch a game after work and the closest one was the Halifax game which is around an hour away.

‘We travelled there and I was starving because I barely ate that day.

‘I’m a fan of the ‘footy scran’ page and wanted to sample the local cuisine but the only thing I could find was the chip van.

‘They had chilli fries and the bacon and cheese fries. It all looked great.

‘When I got it, I was disappointed. It wasn’t raw but it looked undercooked.

‘But, I was starving so I woofed it down anyway. I didn’t feel too clever on the drive home.

Mr Temperton posted the image on Twitter where fans were quick to comment.

One said: ‘That bacon is one shade away from still being alive. Scrandalous.’

A third penned: ‘Another 10 minutes in the tumble dryer they’d be lovely’

A fourth commented: ‘Can just about hear peppa shouting for George under that cheese’

Mr Temperton said: ‘The comments were hilarious. I posted it because I’ve seen other people sharing stadium food with the footy scran page.

‘I did feel bad because the man who served me was lovely.

‘He must have been having an off day.’

MailOnline have contacted Calderdale Council, who own the grounds, for a comment.
