Boy, 12, found dead on river bank by dad after being killed in frenzied knife attack as mum arrested | The Sun

A MUM has been arrested after her 12-year-old son was found stabbed to death on a river bank.

The youngster was reported missing before his dad made the grisly discovery in the city of Marseille, southern France.

According to his family, the boy and his mum were out for a walk on Friday when he disappeared.

She reported him missing to cops and his family and authorities desperately tried to find him.

The boy's dad and uncle discovered his jacket on the banks of the Huveaune on Saturday morning.

Tragically later in the day, they found his body covered in stab wounds, reports BMTV.

The lad's mum was arrested by cops on Saturday evening "in view of the findings" made by investigators in the family apartment, police say.

Public prosecutor of Marseille Dominique Laurens said there were "many traces of blood on the way to the discovery of the body".
