Lipari Foods Recalls Sesame Sticks Mix, Sunflower Meat Tubs

Lipari Foods is recalling specific lots of non-branded sesame sticks mix and roasted and salted sunflower meat tub products citing undeclared cashew (tree nut) allergen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said. The affected products were packaged by sister company JLM.

The recalled products include JLM TUB brand 11 oz. sesame sticks mix with lot codes of 08202209B and 13202209B, best by date of 03/07/23 and 03/12/23, and UPC of 094776081646.

The recall also includes JLM TUB 10 oz. Sunflower Meat Roasted/Salted with lot codes of 09202209B and 12202209B, best by dates of 03/08/23 and 03/11/23, and UPC of 760208118135.

The products were distributed as generic product without branding to retail stores in various states. These include Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

The recall was initiated after JLM discovered cashews (tree nuts) in the bulk Oil Roasted and Salted Sunflower Seeds product from their bulk supplier, Shah Trading Co. The bulk product was used to package the Sesame Sticks Mix and Roasted/Salted Sunflower Meat Tub products.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews may get serious or life- threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

However, there were no reported illnesses in connection with these products to date.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to return it to the point of purchase.
