Shocking moment cruel thug throws cat into quarry sending it plunging hundreds of feet – as cops hunt yobs | The Sun
July 15, 2023COPS are hunting a gang of young thugs who were caught on camera appearing to hurl a CAT off a quarry ledge.
Disturbing footage filmed in Carnforth, Lancashire, shows the pet plummeting hundreds of feet to the water below.
It was shared on social media yesterday with the caption 'What have I just seen on my Snapchat?'.
The screen-recorded video appears to show a youth hurling a black and white cat off the steep ledge of what looks like a former quarry, while a second lad looks on in the background.
As the video ends, the boy moves closer to the edge of the overhang and watches as the cat splashes into the water below – and doesn't appear to emerge afterwards.
The video is captioned with the phrases 'disgusting' and 'tapped', and the screen recording racked up more than 2,000 likes, quotes and retweets on the popular social media platform.
Lancashire Police confirmed they are investigating the 'act of cruetly' and appealed to the public for information.
Users were quick to share their opinions in the comments, with many expressing their disgust over the appalling footage.
One said: "Hope these get named and shamed and get a good kicking."
A second agreed, saying: "Hope someone finds the little f**king scruff and launches him."

A third added: "This actually deserves jail time."
A fourth said: "No, I'm going to cry."
The user who shared the post agreed with the horrified comments, saying: "How dreadful!"
Meanwhile, others theorised that the cat may have already been dead before the abusive act – although others believed it to be alive.
One user said: "I think the cat is already dead and in rigour mortis. Can't say how it died though."
Lancashire Police responded to the tweet and wrote: "Thanks for flagging. We are aware and we're looking into the incident and where it happened."
They appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We are aware of a video which has been posted on social media which appears to show an act of cruelty to a cat in the Carnforth area.
