June 5, 2023NEIGHBOURS in a seaside town say it has been ruined by rowdy partygoers who have made their street one of Britain's most dangerous.
The people living on St Nicholas Street in Scarborough, Yorkshire, say that the abundance of pubs and clubs on the road makes their lives a nightmare.
In 2019, it was rated one of the UK's most dangerous streets by StreetScan, with 1794 crimes reportedly recorded within a half-mile radius.
Matthew Lawson, 29, told Yorkshire Live that he's now constantly on guard as troublemakers spark brawls.
He said: "Some nights it can be perfectly fine, just like an average night out.
"But on some nights, you get idiots and young ones who can’t handle their booze, just constant fights.

"When I come out here, I’m always in the mindset of being ready if anything kicks off. I don’t let it ruin my night but I’m always ready, just in case.
"It has kicked off a couple of time where I’ve had people try to start fights with me."
Matthew suggested that because of his 6ft 3in stature makes him a target as groups of teens "try to find the biggest person and pick a fight".
He added: "Don’t act like an idiot. Just don’t do it. It ruins the night. It ruins everyone’s night.

"They end up in a cell and it’s just not worth the hassle. It’s really not."
His girlfriend Sophia even said that she relies on Matthew's "protection" and would feel uneasy going out without him.
Fellow resident, Kate, 20, said that it "kicks off every weekend" as drunken revellers roam the neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, bar manager Jack Cross, 20, said: "You do see many people who are not in the right frame of mind, some days.
"You should be very wary of youI think you should go out and be wary of your own actions, the same as you would be wary of everyone else’s. I think alcohol reflects on your personality."
"It brings people out of their shell, but I think people need to be aware of their surroundings. You do see many people who are not in the right frame of mind, some days."
It comes after another group of residents revealed the upside they see despite living on one of the UK's worst streets.
Meanwhile, locals of one Birmingham road complained of it being riddled with drug use, crime and prostitution.
