January 2, 2023A WOMAN was horrifically killed after a firework became trapped in her clothes and exploded on New Year's Eve.
Elisangela Tinem, 38, was celebrating with her family on a beach in Praia Grand, Brazil, when tragedy struck.
The mum-of-two had joined revellers to watch the fireworks display before one of the rockets got caught in her clothes.
Her relatives and young children watched on in horror as the pyrotechnic then exploded before she could remove it.
Harrowing footage that has since emerged showed excited partygoers enjoying the spectacular display in the skies.
Hundreds of locals had flocked to the beach in the neighbourhood of Nova Mirim to see in the New Year.
A small crowd is then seen forming on the sand as one of the fireworks begins to sizzle, letting off huge sparks.
The pyrotechnic then explodes, seeing stunned attendees run for their lives as terrified onlookers screamed in horror.
Bystander Luiza Ferreira, 20, told local news several unauthorised fireworks displays were taking place on the beach.
He explained: "I saw a huge flash just as it turned midnight and I was hugging my mum and then everyone started screaming.

"I saw a woman lying on the ground bleeding when I went to look and the boy who was with her was also on the ground.
"Other people were running to get away from the area."
Elisangela tragically passed away from wounds to her chest.
The mum's funeral was due to take place on Monday afternoon in her home city of Sao Paulo.
Her 41-year-old cousin is understood to have told police the firework exploded after getting caught in her clothes.
It has been confirmed that the fatal firework was not lit by any of her relatives.
A murder investigation is now underway as cops launched a hunt to find the person who lit the fuse.
Elisangela's heartbroken friends took to social media to pay tribute to the tragic mum.
