Are People Seeing God in Bitcoin?
August 13, 2022Does bitcoin have a religious side to it many of us never knew existed? According to many traders, they have found God in bitcoin, and they are now reverting to their faith more than ever.
Is God Present in Bitcoin?
Tomer Strolight is one such person. He says he never believed in God up until 2013. That’s the year he discovered bitcoin. He found the asset fascinating and aside from investing in the currency, he says BTC has brought him something he never thought possible… A relationship with God.
In an interview, he stated:
The more I studied it, the more I realized that this is an incorruptible system, that this is a system that has justice built into it through math and truth.
Bitcoin has since changed Strolight’s life. He is 52 years of age and now works in Toronto, Canada as – wouldn’t you believe it? – a bitcoin educator. He’s convinced the currency has shown him the path to Heaven, and he wants to do the same for others. He commented:
This is the genius of God.
It even convinced him to get baptized. He traveled to Miami and was dunked into the Atlantic Ocean by a former nose, ear, and throat surgeon named Patrick Melder, who also happens to be an evangelical Christian from Atlanta, Georgia. Strolight says that when he first began the process, he started to feel a little nervous. He asked himself if doubt had entered his mind, but right as this was occurring, he was immediately plunged into the water as Melder uttered the following:
I now baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Apparently, Strolight is not the only person to experience this kind of godly persuasion through BTC. There is a whole movement occurring right now known as “Christ through crypto,” in which people – allegedly individuals who have never been religious or felt any sort of connection with God – are discovering faith in a higher power through their crypto and bitcoin-related studies.
Christ through crypto recently saw its first annual conference. The event, which was known as “Thank God for Bitcoin,” occurred online and contained approximately 300,000 individuals including former football player Tim Tebow and a prolific writer who remains anonymous at press time.
Melder, who baptized Strolight, recently stated:
Bitcoin adoption becomes a conviction… a conviction based in truth and fact, and like our faith, conviction will steady us in times of volatility or doubt.
So Many Religious Motifs
Joseph Laycock – a professor of religious studies at Texas State University – explained he’s not surprised by the movement. He mentioned:
In America, we have Christian versions of everything. We have Christian golf balls in addition to normal golf balls. We have Christian rap albums in addition to normal rap albums.
