Shocking moment knife fight erupts on packed Primrose Hill in front of horrified sunbathers in north LondonMarch 31, 2021
THIS is the shocking moment a knife fight erupts in front of horrified sunbathers in a packed London park.
Video footage shows a fight break out between several men who had gathered on Primrose Hill as Brits enjoyed the hottest March day since 1968 with temperatures hitting 24C.
One “erratic” man, wearing a hi-vis jacket and a motorcycle helmet, was seen brandishing what appears to be a knife before charging into the crowds.
Scores of yobs were then seen squaring up to each other and trading blows, as panicked park-goers fled or urged them to calm down.
In apparent reaction to the blade being drawn, one man can be heard saying: “Wow, wow, wow – f**k that s**t.”
The fight starts at the top of Primrose Hill – which boasts panoramic views of London – before one group of thugs chases after the other down the incline.
Police are not aware of anyone being injured in the clash, but a senior cop still authorised a Section 60 order in the area.
This gives officers the right to stop and search people without reasonable grounds in a specific area for a certain period of time, in a bid to curb anticipated violence.
The Section 60 order was in place until 3am this morning, as Westminster Police said: “Police have been called to several incidents within a short period of time in relation to violent/knife crime.”
The order was in place across Camden and neighbouring Islington, where a young man in his 20s was knifed at some point last night.
Islington Police said “A man in his twenties has been taken to hospital with stab injuries- we await an update on his condition.”
It is not known if the fight in Primrose Hill and stabbing in Islington are linked.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 5.50pm on Tuesday, 30 March to reports of a male armed with a knife behaving erratically at Primrose Hill Park.
“Police attended and a search of the area was conducted with no trace of the male being found.
“Officers remain in the area. There were no reported injuries.
It comes after thousands of Brits spent their newfound freedom at sundown parties on the beach and in parks.
The crowds of revellers appeared to throw caution to the wind during the 24C scorcher, despite cops banning booze in parks in Nottingham due to rowdy druken brawls on Monday.
Meanwhile, in Cardiff, hundreds of young revellers celebrated the warmest day of the year by drinking and fighting in the street.
Anyone who witnessed Primrose Hill incident or has footage/images is asked to contact police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 6085/30MAR.
