Sanitation worker robbed at gunpoint in front of famed Harlem eateryMay 10, 2019
A garbage truck driver was robbed at gunpoint for his wallet — and a package of strawberries — outside Harlem’s famed soul food joint Sylvia’s early Friday, police said.
The 54-year-old sanitation worker was loading garbage from a Dumpster into his truck near the restaurant’s service entrance on Lenox Avenue around 4:30 a.m. when the suspect approached and pulled a silver revolver, cops said.
The suspect snatched the victim’s wallet, and his fruit, before fleeing, police said.
Managers from Sylvia’s were not immediately available to comment.
