Pamela Anderson believes Donald Trump will pardon 'anti-fake news' Julian Assange in final hours as president
January 18, 2021PAMELA Anderson has claimed Donald Trump will pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in the final hours of his presidency in an interview with Piers Morgan.
During their chat on Good Morning Britain, Anderson told Morgan that dropping charges against her friend Assange “could add a positive” to Trump’s legacy.
The ex-Baywatch star said: “I know that he is debating and we will see what happens… I hope he makes that decision.
“That could add a positive to his legacy.
“Obviously, he is against fake news and Wikileaks is against fake news.”
But she also made it clear that even if Trump doesn't pardon him, they will attempt to speak to President-elect Joe Biden.
Anderson added: "I believe Trump is going to pardon him. If that doesn’t happen then we talk to the Biden camp."
Assange, 49, is currently being held in a London prison after several years of being holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy, and Anderson has visited him in both.
He faces 18 criminal charges tied to the leaking of hundreds of thousands of secret government papers, which were handed over by already convicted ex-Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning.
If found guilty of the crimes he could spend up to 175 years behind bars.
Earlier this month, Old Bailey District Judge Vanessa Baraitser denied the request to put the Australian on trial for espionage and hacking government computers.
Baraister stated that extradition to the US to face these charges would be "oppressive" to Assange's mental health.
