A mother has admitted that she hid her five-month-old baby son’s body inside a crate in the wall of her home after moving it with her from her previous home.

Pennsylvania mother Kylie Wilt, 25, told officers that her baby had died in February 2021 and had been hidden ever since, reports said.

She told police that she had put her baby’s body in a crate and cut a hole in the wall in her Charleroi home, before fixing up the hole and covering it with paint, according to the Washington County DA’s Office.

The Child and Youth Services Department had been investigating Wilt’s baby for months after he was born with THC in his system. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana.

When agents with the state Child and Youth Services Department went to her come last week to ask her where her baby was, investigators said she told them he was in North Carolina being watched by someone else, officials said to WPXI.

But she went on to change her story, telling the agents that her five-month old baby had died in February of sudden infant death syndrome at her former home.

Wilt is now facing several charges, including concealing the death of her child and abuse of a corpse. In addition, the child’s father and her boyfriend Alan Hollis is charged with obstruction.

She told officers that she became nervous after the baby died, and moved to another home three blocks away with her boyfriend and three of her other children. She took the baby’s body with them.

The reason she hid the baby was because she didn’t have enough money to pay for a funeral, she told officers. The cause of the baby’s death is under investigation.

Before the family moved, former neighbor Robin Stasicha recalled to KDKA that she heard the baby crying ‘all the time’.

But then, she said, ‘All of a sudden, it didn’t one day and didn’t see them bringing him in and out and didn’t figure this is what happened.’

The neighbour said she asked her property manager about the baby, who told her that the child had died.

‘I was thinking, I’m here all the time,’ Stasicha said. ‘I never saw an ambulance. Wouldn’t you call 911 if your baby wasn’t responding to you?’

No court date has been set for the couple’s preliminary hearings.
