Madeleine McCann cops probe ‘interesting’ snaps from Brit tourists that could help crack case against Christian BNovember 19, 2020
MADELEINE McCann cops are probing “interesting” photos taken by Brit holiday makers in Praia da Luz”.
Investigators believe the material will help them build a case against Christian B, who is the prime suspect in the disappearance of the toddler.
The 43-year-old convicted paedophile and rapist was yesterday pictured shackled after having two ribs broken in an alleged jail-attack at the hands of prison guards in Germany.
Madeleine was three when she vanished from a flat in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz while on holiday with her family in May 2007.
Prosecutors said in June they had "concrete evidence" she was dead and have named Christian B as the main suspect.
Chief prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters has now revealed holiday snaps from Brits could help build a case against him.
“We got leads from England, including ones from tourists on holiday in Portugal during this time,” he told the Mirror.
“We got some photos where there might be some interesting things on them. There are quite good leads we are following up.”
Wolters the information would take time to pursue and when the UK leaves the European Union this could take even longer as “many things can’t just be clarified at short notice”.
The altercation involving Christian B is said to have happened on Monday when he was driven 240 miles from jail in Kiel to Braunschweig for a parole hearing.
It came after he refused to put on restraints, is the latest in a string of incidents involving Christian B in recent weeks
A source at the court said he had "thrown a tantrum'' in his cell, smearing it with yoghurt and blocking the toilet with loo roll, because guards were filming him.
Despite being named as the prime suspect, no charges have so far been brought against Christian B as cops continue to build a case against him amid concerns time could be running out.
On Wednesday, police raided a property in Laatzen, near Hanover, Germany, which is just 12 miles from a secret cellar used by the paedophile in nearby Seelze.
Sources have told The Sun Online that cops need a breakthrough in the next ten weeks or the case against Christian B could “evaporate”.
There have also been reports, German cops have tried to recruit a fellow inmate in a bid to coax a confession out of him.
