Labour leader Keir Starmer in isolation hours after speaking in House of Commons chamber

SIR Keir Starmer has been forced to self-isolate after one of his children tested positive – just hours after he grilled Boris Johnson in the House of Commons chamber.

The Labour leader tested negative this morning ahead of coming to Westminster for his weekly showdown with the Prime Minister, who is also in quarantine.

A spokesperson for the Labour leader said: "One of Keir’s children tested positive for Covid this lunchtime. In line with the rules, Keir and his family will now be self-isolating.

"Keir was already doing daily tests and tested negative this morning. He will continue to take daily tests."

Today marked the first PMQs after Freedom Day, meaning more MPs were on the green benches than at any time during the pandemic.

Mr Johnson was patched in via video link from Chequers where he too is self-isolating.

It means the UK's PM, Chancellor, Health Secretary and Leader of the Opposition are all holed up in the country's first week of freedom.

Like the PM, Sir Keir has been double-jabbed but strict rules you still have to isolate if a member of your household tests positive.

Sir Keir and his wife Victoria have a 10-year-old son and an eight-year-old daughter.

More to follow.
