Jill Biden's first husband 'had affair with Robert Durst's wife' & claims she was 'murdered' when heir found outJuly 9, 2021
JILL Biden’s first husband claimed he “had an affair with Robert Durst’s wife” and alleges Kathie was "killed” when the heir found out.
Bill Stevenson was married to Dr Biden between 1970 and 1975 before she married Joe in 1977.
He previously accused Jill of having an affair with Joe while she was married to Bill. Both Jill and Joe have denied the accusations.
In an interview with Long Island News 12, Stevenson claimed he and Jill hosted the Dursts at their home in 1974.
He also claimed that after Kathie had allegedly told him she was scared of Robert, he spent the night with her in New York City in 1982.
Stevenson claims the pair became intimate, MailOnline reports.
He also alleged that Robert “pounded on the door” at the apartment and “slammed” cash at Kathie’s face. Kathie vanished 10 days later.
He was asked if he thought his relationship with Kathie had anything to do with her disappearance.
Bill claims that Robert, who has been accused but never charged of killing Kathie, was driven to kill her after he found out about their “affair”.
He said: “This is something that has to be righted. I was together with him and he went crazy. I feel like I’m the missing link in this case.”
Robert Durst’s attorney told News12 that Durst had nothing to do with his wife’s death.
Stevenson reportedly first met Kathie in the 1960s when they spent summers together as kids.
He recalled the moment that he and Jill invited the Durst's at their home in 1974.
Bill said Jill and Kathie were "very smart" and said they were similar.
He said he visited Kathie five times between 1981 and 1982 and stayed at her NYC apartment.
Bill said: “Nothing was said. She grabbed my hand, led me back to the bedroom. We closed the door and life changed for both of us. Totally unexpected. Beautiful night. No regrets.”
After hearing a pound on the door, Kathie ran out of the bedroom and discovered it was Robert.
He reportedly yelled: "Kathleen, this isn’t going to happen”, and she responded: “I’m moving to Delaware.” Kathie vanished days later.
Bill said: "'I got in my car, went to the 19th precinct – literally within 24 hours – and said: "Nuh-uh. He killed her."
He claimed police never responded after cops reportedly told Bill "we'll get back to you".
The NYPD said it doesn't keep visitor logs dating back to the 1980s so couldn't comment.
The revelations come just months after lawyers claimed that Durst's father and brother helped the estate heir cover up the "murder" of missing wife Kathie.
The claims were part of Durst's trial in the murder of long-time confidant, Susan Berman, which just resumed after a 14-month delay due to the coronavirus.
In 2019, Kathie Durst's sister Carol Bamonte filed a lawsuit accusing the family of "protect[ing] [Robert] Durst and The Durst Organization from any connection to Kathie’s disappearance and murder.”
Prosecutors believe that Durst shot Berman in the back of the head in 2000 after she threatened to give information to the police about Kathie.
He has been in jail since 2015 on these charges.
Kathie went missing from her New York City home in 1982 and her body has never been found.
Durst has never been charged with her murder.
He was also accused of killing his neighbor Morris Black while he was in hiding in Texas but was eventually acquitted on claims of self-defense.
The Durst family fortune is estimated to be worth well over $5billion thanks to their leading property business the Durst Organization.
It was founded in 1915 by Robert's grandfather, Joseph Durst, who originally worked as a tailor when he emigrated to America.
At the time of his arrest for his current trial, Robert was estimated to have a personal fortune of $110million.
