After disrupting the mobile telephony market and becoming India’s largest profitable telecommunication industry, Reliance Jio plans to disrupt the broadband and IoT market in India as Mukesh Ambani adds four more engines of revenue for Jio including Internet of Things (IoT), home broadband, enterprise broadband and broadband for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“I am glad to report that the revenues from each of these engines will kick-in within this financial year,” said Reliance Industries chairman, Mukesh Ambani addressing the shareholders during company’s 42nd annual general meeting.
Reliance Jio has developed an innovative service on its pan-India 4G network called Narrowband Internet-of-Things (NBIoT), and it aims to connect at least 1 billion devices on its IoT platform, translating into revenue of ₹20,000 crore per annum. Jio’s IoT platform will be commercially available starting January 1, 2020.
The company plans to roll out the commercial launch of much awaited Jio Fiber starting September 5, the 3rd anniversary of Jio’s launch with the aim to reach 20 million residences and 15 million business establishments in 1,600 towns. JioFiber plans will be priced between ₹700 to ₹10,000 per month to suit every budget and every need.
Under the Jio Fiber welcome offer, the company will offer free high definition (HD) LED TV and set top box absolutely free for customers opting for Jio’s annual plans called as Jio-Forever plans.
For Movie buff, Jio Fiber premium customers will be able to watch movies in their living rooms the same day these movies are released in theatres with the Jio Firest-Day-Frist-Show offer.
“Today, I am announcing that Jio Fiber plans will come bundled with subscriptions to most leading premium OTT applications. Also, for the first time in India, we are introducing a disruptive concept for watching NEW movies. Premium Jio Fiber customers will be able to watch movies in their living rooms the same day these movies are released in theatres! We call this Jio Firest-Day-Frist-Show. We plan to launch this service in the middle of 2020,” said Mr. Ambani.
