We are coming into the last weeks of Donald Trump’s presidency before Biden moves into the White House and as a result of this, crypto enthusiasts are encouraging the president to use his pardoning power for the founder of Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht.
The Morgan Creek digital co-founder, Jason Williams has urged Trump to do the right thing by pardoning the founder of the black market network. He even said that Edward Snowden should be pardoned alongside Julian Assange.
Over the years, you may have heard of these three names. Ulbricht, in particular, was the founder of the aforementioned Silkroad and is currently serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole after he was found guilty of federal charges on computer hacking, narcotics trafficking (conspiracy two) and money-laundering.
Silkroad is a very controversial network that occurred many years ago and gave criminals and malicious individuals the tool to take action on what they wanted to do – most of it illegal.
As a result of this, not all crypto enthusiasts want to see Ulbricht go free.
Jax Draper explained how we never understood why so many advocates for bitcoin would want to pardon Ulbricht.
I believe he got an extreme sentence, and that he’s possible of changing, but he’s very far from ‘innocent.’”
